Steve Kittrick has selection issues in midfield on Saturday as Guiseley host Boston United at Nethermoor in the Blue Square Bet North.

Danny Boshell and Danny Forrest were both forced off in the first half of last Saturday’s 2-0 win over FC United of Manchester in the FA Trophy.

Spokesman Stuart Allen said: “Steve had so many centre backs out for such a long period but that has resolved itself.

“Now it is the midfield that is struggling.

“Kevin Gall and Gavin Allott have been released and Chris Senior is only on loan, so wasn’t allowed to play against FC United last week.

“So with injuries to Forrest (hamstring) and Boshell (groin), the selection problems are with the attacking midfielders.”

Guiseley prefer the 4-3-3 formation, with the likes of Simon Baldry, Andy Holds-worth, Forrest, Joe O’Neill and Lee Ellington in either the front three or supporting.

Allen added: “The defence is fine now. Danny Ellis played the full game last Saturday and Mark Bower was on the bench. He is fit to play but he just needs to get his match sharpness back.”

Saturday's opponents were new to the Conference League set-up last term and both had the momentum to mount a second successive promotion push. But while the Lions are third this season and still right in the mix for the play-offs, Boston are locked in mid-table, ten points adrift of Guiseley.

Kittrick’s men are also back on the charge, having won their last two league games and their last five fixtures in all competitions.

That upturn in form followed a sequence of four league draws on the trot, which saw them lose ground on the top two.

Meanwhile, Guiseley now know that a home tie against Stalybridge Celtic is awaiting them in the second round of the FA Trophy.

Celtic beat their Cheshire rivals Stockport County 2-1 at home on Tuesday in a replay and will now visit Nethermoor on Saturday, January 14.
