GUISELEY travel to Bromley tomorrow for a must-win fixture and manager Sean St Ledger is hopeful the London side's wasted trip north on Tuesday night will play into his team's hands.

Bromley travelled to play Spennymoor Town in an FA Trophy replay but the game was postponed at short notice due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Lions had their own midweek home game against Barrow called off too but St Ledger expects Bromley's ten-hour round trip to the north east to have had an adverse effect on them.

He said: "An added advantage might be that we will be fresh, whereas they had a long journey and won't have got back to London until late.

"Sometimes you just have to look at positives like that."

St Ledger played down any concerns over his own side's recent postponements, citing the fact that it has given them some much-needed time together in training.

"It's probably my first week where we haven't had a Tuesday game, apart from last week where we weren't able to train because of the snow, so I was looking forward to it (working with the squad in training)," he said.

Key midfielder Will Hatfield should be in the Guiseley starting line-up tomorrow.

The 26-year-old had endured a long spell on the sidelines after undergoing groin surgery in November but made his return to the team last month.

St Ledger expressed his delight at the player's recent progress and said: "I've been really surprised at how well he's managed his fitness levels.

"I thought he would have struggled a lot more because he was out for such a long time.

"That's credit to him and the way he manages himself. Will's a winner and you need those people in your squad."

Guiseley will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the reverse fixture in November.

Goalkeeper Jonny Maxted, now at Accrington Stanley, saved two Bromley penalties but the Lions were beaten by a last-minute winner.

St Ledger know time is running out for his side to save themselves in the National League this season, as they are 11 points off safety with 11 games remaining.

Yet if they can beat a tired Bromley side tomorrow, fans might still be able to start dreaming about a great escape.
