GUISELEY'S players have been urged to be both brave and ruthless.

Manager Paul Cox issued the challenge ahead of tomorrow's tough National League home clash with second-placed Dover.

The Lions have drawn all three games since Cox took charge and the new boss is determined to improve on their tally of just one win in 11 games.

"We need to turn our draws into wins and to do that we have to change our psychology in the final third of the pitch," said Cox.

"We have to be brave in our play and when we create chances we have to be ruthless and put them away.

"The players have made great strides since I arrived at the club and the team has looked solid in our three games to date.

"The players have responded tremendously well and we have only conceded one goal in three games.

"I am sure the goals will come but we mustn't be afraid to attack teams. It is important to take the next step. It is all about belief.

"We can't rest on our laurels after drawing three games because we are still in the bottom four in the league and need some wins."

Guiseley were denied their first away victory of the season at Wrexham on Saturday by a goal six minutes into injury time. It was a tough blow and Cox felt his team had done enough to win.

"It was the first time I have seen the players come off the field disappointed to only get a draw away from home," he said.

"I felt we had done enough to win but there are things we can learn about in terms of game management."

After three tough games in eight days against Eastleigh, Barrow and Wrexham, the Lions now have to take on a Dover side in top form.

"I knew when I took over that we had a difficult run of fixtures but we don't need to fear anybody," said Cox

"I feel we could have won against Eastleigh and Wrexham and we are moving in the right direction as a group."
