FOLLOWING two defeats to Championship sides, Guiseley continued their preparation for Bradford City’s visit on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 victory at Parkgate.

Once again 'A Trialist' featured heavily on the Lions' team-sheet with nine players in the squad getting game time at the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division outfit.

It was one of the players seeking to either impress or yet to agree a contract that broke the deadlock on the half hour.

The trialist picked out the bottom corner from the edge of the area to net the only goal of the first half.

The Lions dominated possession and hit the woodwork twice as they faced a much different test than Leeds United and Barnsley had given them. They cemented their win with a second goal just after the hour mark.

Will Hatfield was tripped in the area and he got up to drill the resulting spot-kick past the home keeper.

Hatfield was one of only five of the starting 11 that were named with James Wesolowski, Ashley Palmer, Rob Atkinson and keeper Joe Green also on from the start.

The second goal sparked mass substitutions as Guiseley boss Adam Lockwood and his right-hand man Dave Penney drafted in a whole different team.

Jonny Maxted took over in goal with Danny East, Marcus Williams, Jake Lawlor, Danny Lowe, John Rooney and Reece Thompson also joining the fray along with four other trialists.
