FORMER Oxenhope Rec youngster Will Wells has been rewarded with a new one-year contract at Guiseley.

The 19 year-old, who came up through the National League club’s academy system, made four appearances for the first team last season, spending much of the campaign gaining experience out on loan.

The former Oakbank School pupil was a key member of the Wharfedale FA team that won the West Riding County Minor Cup three seasons ago.

Guiseley boss Adam Lockwood believes the centre half has the potential to play a bigger role for the Lions going forward.

He said: “Will has a bright future ahead of him. We are looking to develop him even further and he fits the profile of young players we are trying to improve to play at this level.

"I hope he continues his good progress after making his first-team debut last season and being involved with the first-team squad.”
