MANAGER Adam Lockwood has pin-pointed his team’s adaptability as being a key factor in their resurgence.

Successive away draws at Boreham Wood and Gateshead extended Guiseley’s unbeaten run to five games and they are now seven points above the National League relegation zone with seven games to play.

After the 1-1 draw at promotion-chasing Gateshead where skipper Danny Lowe and goalscorer Jake Lawlor returned after suspension, Lockwood highlighted how his team have evolved since he took the helm

Lockwood said: “I can pick my team, I can talk about things and how we want to go about each game and we can approach games totally differently.

“I think if you look at the last ten games and all the different challenges we have come up against you will see we have played some very good sides all with different types of threats.

“Our group of players have acquitted themselves excellently and that is what football is about.

“It is about being able to adapt to different strategies and styles and I cannot speak highly enough of our dressing room.”

The Gateshead match provided further evidence of Guiseley’s ability to battle it out with the best team’s in the league.

Lockwood added: “At times their decision making was excellent. The ability when we were put under pressure and the calmness was pleasing to watch.”

With Saturday’s home game against Dover – another promotion contender – in mind, he added: “You have to maintain that now and keep pushing on.

“Every game in this league is tough. If we don’t prepare right then we don’t get things in games.

“We must concentrate on our own things and continue to do what we want to do and hopefully keep putting points on.”

Dover have been inconsistent in recent weeks with defeats to Boreham Wood and Woking but wins against Bromley and Eastleigh.

The Kent side have former Lion James Hurst in their squad.

Guiseley now have 46 points, just three less than they secured last season when avoiding relegation on the final day with a 4-3 win over Torquay.

The Dover game is the first of four home fixtures in Guiseley’s last seven matches and all of them are against teams above them.

Leaders Forest Green, third-placed Tranmere and Solihull Moors all have to visit Nethermoor where Lions have only lost once in the league since September.
