GUISELEY can lift themselves out of the National League relegation zone tonight when they host Sutton United in a rearranged fixture.

The Lions battled to the death of Saturday’s home clash with Eastleigh and snatched a point from a 1-1 draw with a strike deep in stoppage time.

Jake Lawlor’s goal left the Lions just one point behind the three clubs immediately above them and they have a game in hand on two of those sides.

A win for Adam Lockwood’s men would see them out of the bottom four and their home form is excellent – they have not lost at Nethermoor since the last game in September.

Tonight’s fixture was originally scheduled for a Saturday but was postponed because the U's were in FA Cup action. They played the Lions’ Championship neighbours Leeds United when a 1-0 victory saw them progress in the competition.

Following tonight’s league game, their next fixture is another tasty one as they host Premier League giants Arsenal in the last eight of the competition.

Lions boss Lockwood is certain that the cup tie against Arsene Wenger’s high flying Gunners will not be at the forefront of the minds of their visitors.

He said: “I know for a fact that the cup will mean nothing to them tonight at Nethermoor. Sutton will prepare right and proper for their game against us, and that’s why they’ve got so far in the cup.”

New loan signing John Rooney goes straight into the Guiseley squad for this evening's clash.

Farsley Celtic are also in action tonight as they make the short journey to the outskirts of Manchester to take on Ashton United in the Evo-Stik League Cup.

The Celts climbed to second place in Division One North with a 4-1 home victory at the weekend ahead of their trip to Surrey Street to face Premier Division mid-table outfit Ashton.

Last night saw Brighouse Town exit the West Riding County Cup despite having a home draw in the semi-final.

Paul Quinn’s men fell just short of an appearance at Valley Parade in the final as they went down 2-1 to Tadcaster Albion.
