GUISELEY boss Mark Bower admits he has “never known anything like it” as his side continue their torrid run on the road at Woking on Saturday.

The Lions have not played at Nethermoor since December 15 after Tuesday’s FA Trophy replay against Dover was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Postponements and the way their league fixtures have been scheduled have hit Guiseley’s cashflow and, as they gear up for an eighth successive away game, Bower said: “I’ve never known anything like this.

“I’ve said on record that the League really need to look at this because of the situation it has left us in.

“We’ve only had two league games postponed due to the weather but we’re going to be the best part of three months without a home league game.

“The scheduling around the FA Trophy games has been really poor and has left the club in a difficult condition.

“As a group of part-time players, it’s tough getting time off work, but the lads have been magnificent in getting on with it and putting in good performances as well.

“We have to continue doing that because we’ve got a couple more weeks of it.

“Everyone is desperate to play a home game again because of the club’s finances and the supporters who have not seen us at Nethermoor for a while.”

The FA Trophy replay against Dover has been rearranged for next Tuesday, forcing a subsequent postponement of the already rescheduled home game against Grimsby – originally due to be played on Boxing Day.

Bower, whose side drew 4-4 with Woking in a Nethermoor thriller last September, added: “It probably wasn’t our best performance to be honest and Woking would probably have felt a bit hard done by not to win the game.

“But the lads kept going that day and showed some really good spirit and determination, so we scored four goals without playing particularly well.

“We know we’ve got the ability to score against but equally, we know Woking are a very good side going forward.

“They play some good football and it will be in complete contrast to what we experienced at Dover last week.

“Woking like to get the ball down and play, and it’s a lovely surface down there.

“It should be a good game of football so hopefully we can go down there and come back with at least a point.

“We try to go as late we as can on the Friday so the lads can juggle things around a bit with work.

“This week isn’t too much of a problem because the fixture list for the league games came out a long time ago, but it’s more difficult to go to Dulwich and Dover at short notice in the Trophy.

“The lads have had to changed their plans to accommodate that, which is not ideal.

“But that’s just the way it falls in cup competitions and the lads have been terrific in the way they have gone about their work.

“You know you’re up against it as a newly-promoted side going into something of the unknown as a part-time club in a mainly full-time league.

“We’ve just got to maintain that distance between ourselves and the bottom four and try and hit our targets to increase that gap.”
