GUISELEY boss Mark Bower admits his side will be out for revenge when they travel to Aldershot on Saturday.

The Lions were beaten 4-0 at home by their National League rivals back in August, a result that still rankles with Bower.

Buoyed by their midweek FA Trophy replay win over Burscough in midweek, Guiseley will travel to Hampshire with confidence and on the back of a four-match unbeaten run.

Bower’s squad will train this evening and head to Aldershot for an overnight stay tomorrow afternoon ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Guiseley lie one position above the 17th-placed Shots in the table and Bower said: “It’s a massive game for us because Aldershot are a are in and around us in the league and haven’t been on a great run.

“They will see Guiseley coming and the expectation from them will be to beat us.

“We’ve got to make sure that we go there in good shape and ready to put in a performance that can get a result down there.

“Looking at the fixtures over Christmas, there is always the potential for games to be called off, so it’s good to get points on the board and we’ll be looking to do that on Saturday.”

Reflecting on the heavy home loss to Aldershot earlier in the season, Bower added: “It will be fresh in the mind because it was only a few months ago and we felt a little bit hard done by on the day.

“A couple of key decisions during moments when we were on top went against us and perhaps 4-0 flattered them, but we were the architects of our own downfall.

“I think we have learnt some lessons since then and I certainly feel the squad is stronger and has improved since then.

“We will go down there and hopefully give a good account of ourselves and if we play like we have for the majority of the past six weeks then I think we’ve every chance of getting a result.”

Guiseley ensured their place in the second round of the FA Trophy on Tuesday after earning a 3-2 win in their replay against Burscough.

Bower said: “I didn’t think we were great at all and certainly a half-time lead of 3-1 flattered us.

“We said that in the dressing room at half-time but ultimately we are through against a very good side.

“Burscough have got some good players but in cup competitions it’s ultimately all about getting through and we can look forward to the next round in the new year.

“We’re though and we picked up no injuries, plus we also managed to get the likes of Dicko (Liam Dickinson), Nicky Boshell and Danny Hall nearly ninety minutes.

“It was good from that point of view and it was good to rest some of the players who have been playing more recently.

“I can’t take much from the performance because I don’t think we were great.

“We had opportunities to be much better than we were, especially in possession of the ball, but we’re not going to play brilliantly every week.

“When you don’t play brilliantly, it’s important to do the things that get you through.”

James Hurst will be assessed at training tonight after a muscle strain but this weekend's game is likely to come too soon.

Key defender Rob Atkinson is recovering from a badly torn hamstring and is progressing well but there is no date pencilled in for his comeback as yet.
