GUISELEY face a tough trip in the National League tonight as they head to Cheltenham Town’s Waddon Road.

Gary Johnson’s Robins are second in the table and will be looking to reclaim top spot following Saturday’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Hartlepool United.

Lions boss Mark Bower is looking forward to pitting his wits against the vastly experienced Johnson. The Robins’ boss names Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Peterborough United among his former clubs.

Johnson took Bristol to the Championship play-off final, losing 1-0 to Hull City at Wembley, and in his time with Yeovil picked up the League One manager of the year award.

Guiseley will be in good spirits after back to back wins. Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Barrow lifted them to 14th and they could climb into the top half with a win tonight.

Bower will be hoping on-loan striker Anthony Dudley, who has scored three goals in his first two games, can add to his tally against a Cheltenham side that went through October unbeaten after starting the month with a 7-1 mauling of FC Halifax Town at the Shay.

Elsewhere Farsley Celtic will be on a revenge mission when they host Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the first round of the Evo-Stik Integro Doodson League Cup.

The side’s met at Shaw Lane recently in the FA Trophy when the Ducks edged a seven-goal thriller. The Celts came from a goal down twice before going into the break 3-2 up.

A second-half substitution made all the difference as assistant manager Lee Morris came on for the Ducks and scored two goals, either side of Farsley defender Paddy Miller being sent off for picking up a second yellow card.

Farsley boss Neil Parsley lost his assistant yesterday when Mark Jackson departed to take up a full-time role with Leeds United’s Academy at Thorpe Arch. The Celts will be expecting another close tie and hoping that it doesn’t reflect league form as Shaw Lane are second in Division One South while Farsley are second bottom in the North section.

Brighouse Town face a tough away tie in an all Division One North tie as they journey to County Durham to face Spennymoor Town. Brighouse will want a repeat of the score in the league game at Brewery Field where they won 3-1.

Thackley host Liversedge in a West Riding County Cup second round derby tie with the winners at home to Silsden in the quarter-finals.
