Guiseley 4, Woking 4

THERE was late drama at the end of both halves in a remarkable match at Nethermoor – and the best was saved until last from a home perspective as Guiseley snatched an equaliser six minutes into stoppage time to take a point off high-flying Woking.

The visitors were third in the Vanarama National League as they came to West Yorkshire and had conceded only six goals in their opening eight games. But they headed home in fifth place and with double figures in their goals conceded column.

After the rollercoaster afternoon, Lions boss Mark Bower said: "I'm disappointed because we didn't do the basics well and we've let four goals in.

"We dropped below the standards we've set ourselves but overall you've got to have some pride in the lads for how they battled.

"There are lots of positives to build on but lots to look at and work on after that.

"We showed character and, to put things in perspective, we've come from two goals down to take a point from a side in the top three – but even then we've come off the field disappointed that we've not got more."

Woking raced into a 2-0 lead after John Goddard netted twice in the opening 13 minutes, curling in an excellent free-kick and then slotting in to end a superb passing move.

Guiseley hit back after the half-hour mark when Rob Atkinson fired the ball in after the visitors' defence failed to clear a corner – and the Lions were level three minutes before the break when Nicky Boshell slotted in after Will Hatfield's lay-off.

However, two minutes into first-half stoppage time, Brian Saar headed the visitors back in front from a corner.

Midway through the second half, Guiseley levelled again as Tom Craddock found himself some space in the area and produced a fine finish.

But just eight minutes later, Woking were back in front as Dan Holman slipped the offside trap and beat exposed Lions keeper Steve Drench.

The drama was not over though and the gasps were audible as the fourth official held up the board indicating eight minutes of time added on.

Deep into that, a throw-in caused problems for the visitors' defence and Jake Lawlor pounced to send the home crowd into raptures.
