MARK Bower is looking to strengthen his squad as they prepare to embark on a crucial run of Vanarama Conference North fixtures.

Injuries have left the Lions manager short of cover and he is hoping he might have reinforcements in place for the home clash with Lowestoft.

His most obvious need is for cover at centre back, with the experienced Danny Ellis and Danny Hall both sidelined. Their absence has resulted in midfielder Jake Lawlor deputising.

Bower said: “The injuries are disrupting two areas of the team with Jake having to move into the back four and that has forced us to change the midfield.

“With a run of two games a week coming up for the remainder of the month, I’m looking to bring players in.

“I have made a few calls and I’m waiting to see what the outcome will be. We just need a little more cover in case we get further injuries in the coming weeks.”

Bower is also hoping that injured leading scorer Adam Boyes will be fit to return after an ankle injury. The Lions have failed to score in their last two games, the 3-0 FA Cup loss at Grimsby and 1-0 defeat at Barrow.

The Guiseley boss said: “We created plenty of chances at Barrow and just needed somebody like Adam to stick one away. Hopefully we can find our goal touch again on Saturday.

“It is going to be nice being back at Nethermoor because we haven’t been at home for almost a month.”

Guiseley’s last home match was the 3-0 FA Cup win over Halesowen Town on October 11.

Newly-promoted Lowestoft are currently 15th in the table with 16 points from their 14 games.

Bower admits he hasn’t had a chance to see them in action but he expects them to be a useful outfit.

He said: “Because of the distance involved we haven’t been able to go and see them play.

“We do know that they had a good result at Chorley earlier in the season and we are expecting another tough test at Nethermoor.”
