GUISELEY boss Mark Bower returns on Saturday to the ground where his managerial fortunes took a dramatic upturn almost a year ago.
It was a Tuesday night trip to North Ferriby that saw the LIons win 3-2 to register their first victory under his command after losing five games before drawing 1-1 with Histon.
Since then the Lions have recorded three more wins over the Humberside club, including victories in both legs of the Conference North Play-offs semi-finals.
Bower, who has seen his side string together a five-match unbeaten away run, has fond memories of last October’s trip to North Ferriby.
“We played well and it was the result that turned things around for us,” said Bower.
“They were at the top of the league and going well while we were third from bottom. Beating them gave us confidence.
“Playing North Ferriby is never easy and I am sure it will be a real test for us again.”
Injuries continue to plague his selection.
Last Saturday he had only two senior players among the substitutes for the 3-0 FA Cup win over Halesowen Town.
Danny Boshell, Ben Parker, Danny Hall, Jack Stockdill and Alex Johnson are all at various stages of their recoveries.
Bower said: “With so many experienced players ruled out it is pleasing to achieve the results we have been getting.
“It will be good when we get the injured players back because that will increase the competition for places.”
