GUISELEY manager Mark Bower is hoping that money talks this weekend.

The Lions are at home to Halesowen Town in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup and the hosts are set to bank £7,500 if they are successful.

"The prize money is a massive incentive (fourth qualifying round winners receive £12,500) and the players also have a bonus scheme," said Bower.

"But they are also a good bunch of lads who want to test themselves as regularly as possible against better opposition.

"We are now only two rounds away from playing in the first round proper against such big clubs as Sheffield United and Bradford City."

Halesowen may be in the lower reaches of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division – one rung below the Lions.

But Bower knows that his players must treat them with the same respect as they showed in their fine Vanarama Conference North victory at Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday.

He said: "It will be difficult. I won't accept anyone who thinks we just have to turn up to roll Halesowen over.

"They came up last season and won 4-0 at Matlock Town last Saturday and any team doing that must be respected.

"We have seen how well teams from the leagues below have done in ours – the likes of Fylde and Chorley this season, who are first and second – so we will have to be properly at it to make progress.

"Also, we were pushed all the way by Droylsden in the last round and we have seen other teams from our league lose to teams much lower down the pyramid than Halesowen."
