NOT too many Guiseley supporters will be running to the bookies over the next 24 hours to put money on a 0-0 draw at Nethermoor on Saturday.

Third-placed opponents Oxford City’s last four matches have involved 25 goals – 15 for and ten against.

Their bizarre sequence of results have been: Lost 8-1 at home to AFC Fylde on September 6, won 7-2 at Boston United on September 9, won 2-0 at home to Gainsborough Trinity last Saturday and won 5-0 at Bradford Park Avenue on Monday.

“They seem to be better away from home than at home,” said Guiseley manager Mark Bower, whose team are sixth but with a game in hand on City.

“They are very good on the counter-attack and have a lot of pace, but we aren’t a bad side ourselves and have played well in our last three matches, and were very unlucky at Hednesford last Saturday.”

Guiseley have followed their 3-0 victory at Gloucester City with 1-1 draws against Colwyn Bay (home) and Hednesford, and Bower said: “We haven’t picked up any new injuries, so I should be selecting from the same squad as last weekend.

“But it is good that we had a free midweek as Ryan Toulson, Danny Lowe and Josh Wilson have gone from not playing much football to having three matches in eight days.”

Guiseley now know their opponents in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

They travel to old rivals Droylsden on Saturday week, who are now in Evo-Stik Division One North after two straight relegations.

However, Bower is too long in the tooth to take any cup foes lightly. He said: “I can remember losing against Ashington in the FA Cup and Skelmersdale United in the FA Trophy.”

Guiseley’s Academy team are on the FA Youth Cup cup trail. They won 2-0 at North Ferriby United, both goals being scored by Lamar Lindo, and have been drawn at Brighouse Town in the first qualifying round next Tuesday (7.30pm).
