MARK Bower is delighted to have Josh Wilson back at the club, even if it is for a short period.

Wilson left Nethermoor to play in the Conference Premier with near neighbours FC Halifax Town. Injuries affected his pre-season and as a result he has struggled to break into the Shaymen’s team this season, so Lions boss Bower snapped him up on a short-term loan.

Bower said: “The situation with AJ (Alex Johnson) taking longer than we thought to recover from his injury left us short in that department. Josh has similar qualities and already knows the rest of the players.

“He has come in and made a big difference in the dressing room as well as on the pitch. He scored the goal that got us a point against Colwyn Bay on Tuesday and it’s great to have him back.

“I know he is very well thought of at Halifax but they were prepared to allow him to go out on loan. He has joined us for one month initially but we will see what the situation is after that.

“Josh is just concentrating on playing a few games and if we get him for a bit longer then that will be good news for us. It is an ideal situation because it helps us out, helps Josh get some time on the pitch and Halifax get a match-fit player back. It’s a win win.”

Bower revealed that Wilson was drained after Tuesday night’s exertions but that he was not the only one. Guiseley have welcomed some players back from injury and two games in three days took its toll.

“We came through Tuesday unscathed so we’re looking okay injury-wise but there were some aching bodies on Wednesday morning.

“Josh has played hardly any football and Ryan Toulson and Danny Lowe are also only just picking up the pace.

“Danny obviously got injured in that game at Farsley (the final pre-season friendly – the same game that Danny Hall broke his leg) before the season started and although Tully has been around the squad he hasn’t done much.

“There were some tired legs on Tuesday but all three of them did well. You always look to win any game but considering that we had three lads playing only their second game of the season and Colwyn being a very good, in form side I think we can be happy with a draw.

“We wanted a reaction against Brackley Town and we got the one we wanted and Tuesday carried on from that. We took four points from the two games and played well, moving the ball around and creating chances. I think it reminded a few players of the levels that we can reach.”
