Guiseley have a hugely important game tomorrow as they look to make it fourth time lucky in the Conference North play-offs.

The Lions reached the end-of-season extras three times under previous manager Steve Kittrick and are in the mix again this term with Mark Bower at the helm.

The former Bantams centre-back and skipper was brought to Nethermoor as a player-defensive coach by Kittrick, so there has been continuity over their four consecutive tilts for promotion.

When Bower replaced Kittrick in the hot-seat, the season was just six games old and Guiseley were lower mid-table.

The new man did not have the best of starts but things turned around when Bower gained his first win against North Ferriby United, who the Lions visit tomorrow in their play-off semi-final second leg nursing a 2-0 advantage.

“We are two games away from the Conference Premier, which is unbelievable when we look back to that first win against Ferriby,” said Bower. “We did what we could by beating them again on Wednesday, so whatever we have to do now will be away from home.

“If – and it’s not a foregone conclusion by any means – we manage to beat Ferriby and get into the play-off final, that will also be away.

“Whoever the highest finisher is gets home advantage and that won’t be us because we just about claimed fifth spot.

“If we win the two games and the season ends with promotion, it will be fantastic. But if it doesn’t we have a good platform for next season.

“I think we have a very good squad, a strong squad, and we can push on again. Whatever happens tomorrow, it has still been a very good season for us and we have to remember that.”
