Farsley moved back into the play-off places in Evo-Stik League Division One North with a deserved 2-1 victory at leaders Curzon Ashton tonight.

It was a dramatic evening with a significant shift in the race for promotion as Neil Parsley’s men leapt from seventh to fifth. They went above rivals Lancaster City, who lost 2-1 at New Mills.

Farsley’s Adam Priestley had already been denied by a post when the visitors took a grip of the game with two goals in five first-half minutes.

Danny Hull opened the scoring just before the half-hour and Priestley added the second.

Curzon halved the deficit after the break when Matthew Warburton scored following a 70th-minute corner but Farsley held out for victory.

Parsley’s side have just three games remaining and their fate is now back in their own hands.

Guiseley will go back into the play-off places in the Conference North tomorrow night if they gain at least a draw at home to Harrogate Town but Mark Bower’s men will be looking to win the derby fixture.

The Lions have won their last seven home games but need the right response following their 3-2 loss at Hednesford, which brought an end to their 13-match unbeaten run.

Harrogate have dropped to eighth in the table, eight points adrift of the play-off places.

Brighouse Town will extend their lead at top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division to four points with a game in hand if they win at home against rock-bottom Lincoln Moorlands Railway tomorrow.

In the same division, mid-table Thackley travel to lowly Nostell MW.
