Guiseley boss Mark Bower is happy with the quality, resolve and resilience in his squad as he looks forward to the club’s hectic run-in.

Guiseley have three league fixtures remaining this month, beginning with tomorrow’s home clash against leaders North Ferriby United, and eight in April.

With 33 points to play for and games in hand on seven of the eight clubs above them, the Lions are still in the hunt for a play-off place in the Conference North.

Bower’s men are in fine form so confidence is high but they will be severely tested, physically and mentally, between now and the end of the season.

The Lions boss said: “We are doing well regarding injuries at this stage of the season, with Jack Rea being the only long-term casualty. Jack has had a knee operation so will be out four to six weeks so it is unlikely he will return this season.

“Rhys Meynell has missed a few games with an ankle injury but he could be back today. It is very important that we have our squad at more or less full strength from here on in.

“Our midweek game against Stalybridge was our fourth Tuesday night in a row and we have every other midweek booked up. There are a lot of games to be played but we can turn that in our favour if we are at our best.”

The Lions were far from their best in the first half on Tuesday and they turned around 1-0 down but won at a canter following a superb second half. The game before saw them held 3-3 at Stockport County when the home side netted a penalty five minutes into stoppage time.

Bower said: “After the disappointment of Saturday and the poor first half on Tuesday it just shows how desperate everyone at the club is to get as high as we can.

“There are going to be ups and downs but that goes for all of the clubs in the top half of the table.

"It felt like a defeat at Stockport but we have profited more from last-minute goals than dropped two points to them and the lads have seen out a lot of 1-0 games.

“That underlines the desire of the players. Even when we have injuries the lads on the periphery have come in and done well.

“When we have had a poor game or a disappointing result it comes down to reaction and the ability to bounce back and we’ve certainly got that.”
