Guiseley boss Mark Bower will not allow his squad to let up as they continue their late push for the play-offs in Skrill Conference North.

Their midweek home win took the Lions’ points tally to 13 from their last five games, which mirrors the haul from the first five league games of the 15-match unbeaten sequence they put together once the former Bantams defender had settled into his first management role.

Guiseley climbed back into the top ten following Tuesday’s victory but they will be well aware of the pitfalls of a swift return match.

The Lions beat Stockport County 2-0 at Nethermoor in midweek but head to the former Football League outfit’s Edgeley Park on Saturday.

Bower said: “Back to back games against the same opposition are not ideal. Both sides will know a lot about each other that’s for sure.

“I’d certainly rather be going into the second game having won one, but come kick-off time on Saturday, I don’t think it will make a difference. It will be a completely different game.

“I know that we would like the same result but we will need to show the same application and organisation that we did on Tuesday.

"If we are to get the win, we need to be on top of our game because we know that Stockport are well organised and pass the ball well.”

The Lions moved seven points clear of the Hatters following their midweek victory, even though County have played four games more.

Guiseley have enough games in hand to reach the play-off places but Bower is aware that there is little scope for error.

He said: “Tuesday was a great win for us but we need to keep going.”
