Manager Mark Bower is quite happy for Guiseley to remain out of the promotion spotlight as they mount their late bid for a play-off place.

Tuesday’s 2-0 home win over Stockport County took their tally to 13 points from their last five games.

They are just six points off the top five in Skrill North with games in hand over all of the teams ahead of them in the table.

It is a good position to be in as they prepare for another testing run of fixtures away to Stockport on Saturday, then at home to Stalybridge on Tuesday before leaders North Ferriby United visit Nethermoor on Saturday week.

“We seem to be avoiding detection at the moment,” said Bower. “Even the Confer-ence round up keeps having us down as the last game.

“It is nice not being in the main spotlight as the pressure us currently on the other teams.

“If we can continue our good run then it will be interesting to see how our challenge is viewed by our rivals.

“Obviously there is a long way to go and our schedule is tough, but winning isn’t a bad habit to have and I hope we can continue our good work.

Bower is relieved that his squad is currently free of serious injury problems.

Rhys Meynell and Jack Rea are recovering from knocks but aren’t expected to be out for long.

Saturday’s match at Stockport, Guiseley’s first trip to Edgeley Park, should be a real test of their play-off credentials.

Stockport attract big crowds and will be keen to exact revenge for Tuesday night’s defeat at Nethermoor.

“I have been to Edgeley Park a couple of time this season to see Stockport play and their fans get right behind them,” said Bower.

“It is going to be important that we start well and try to quieten their supporters by imposing ourselves on the game.

“Like us they are a footballing side and I expect it to be another good contest. If we can continue to show the professionalism and discipline we displayed on Tuesday then I feel we have a great chance of extending our good run.”
