Bradford boss John Deacey knows his team will be underdogs as Park Avenue go to Nethermoor for the second of two tough derby fixtures.

The Lions took all three points from the Conference North clash at Horsfall Stadium on Monday night.

This time they are playing for a place in the last 16 of the FA Trophy and the not-so-small sum of £6,000 in prize-money.

Avenue had knocked Guiseley out of the FA Cup and won the reverse league fixture at Nethermoor, so there was no warning of Monday’s defeat.

However, both of the earlier games had been close, so what was a surprise was that the Lions won it so easily, cantering to a 3-0 victory.

Deacey said: “We started brightly and I thought, yea, we’ll do all right. But the early goal knocked us back - we had decent chances but we didn’t reach our full potential.

“To be fair to Danny (Forrest – who began the season with Avenue), he got two great strikes. The second one early in the second half knocked the stuffing out of us and we were never going to come back from 2-0 down.

“There are no complaints. Guiseley have been doing really well. They have been getting compliments from clubs they have been beating and their tails are up.

"I thought we were in decent form going into the game, with the Kidderminster win and then a good result in the league at Vauxhall Motors.

“But we were very much second best, and you get days like that in football.”

Bradford will be without influential skipper Nathan Hotte and experienced defender James Knowles this weekend as both are ruled out through suspension.

Martin Drury is still sidelined and other players are struggling with injuries.

The Park Avenue manager has been casting the net in an attempt to draft in a few new faces.

He had intended to bring centre back Adam Quinn back from his loan spell but the player picked up an untimely injury.

“We are going to be up against it for this game, no doubt about it,” said Deacey.

“It looks like I could have just 13 players, no more. Nathan and James are big players for us - one in the engine room and one at the heart of our defence. They are experienced and influence the players around them. Not having either is a huge loss to us.

“Quinny has bust his arm playing for Worksop Town and he had to have a big operation this week. I have tried to sign a few but it’s tough.

"I look at Harrogate Town and Guiseley and if they need players, they just bring them in and it’s hard to compete when you haven’t got the finances.

“We will have a reasonable side though and the players will be up for it after that beating on Monday. We will go there as underdogs - we know that, but we are a good side and we have good players.

“We have beaten them twice this season and there is no reason why we can’t do it again. It will be tough but it was tough against Kidderminster and we got the result that day.”
