Guiseley bounced back from their surprise home defeat on the opening day of the Skrill North season to win 2-1 at Gainsborough Trinity tonight.
However, it was hard work against a side who were also looking for their first points of the new campaign.
The Lions had an early penalty claim dismissed before Trinity’s former Guiseley striker Darryn Stamp forced a good save from Steve Drench.
Guiseley broke the deadlock when Wayne Brooksby fired into the top corner and held their lead into the break, Gavin Rothery drilling in a second before Trinity’s late consolation.

The home side took the lead through a Rob O’Brien penalty, but Prescot soon levelled before Aiden Savory restored Farsley’s lead.
A late strike from Matty James wrapped up the scoring in a game that kicked off 15 minutes late after Prescot were caught up in traffic on the motorway.
Matt Mathers claimed a hat-trick as Thackley edged a five-goal thriller at home to Armthorpe Welfare in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Mathers opened the scoring with a half-volley and netted his second after skipper Matt Morgan’s effort had come back off a post.
Armthorpe equalised twice via David Buck but Mathers’ third saw the Dennyboys home.
Liversedge battled well to put an end to their three-game losing streak as they earned their first point of the season with a goalless draw at Basford United.
However, Brighouse Town’s home game against Glasshoughton Welfare was abandoned at half-time due to a floodlight failure.
In Division One, Eccleshill United won 5-2 at AFC Emley.
Drake Trease and Marcus Edwards both bagged a brace for the Eagles, full debutant Ryan Jones opening his account.
