Farsley Celtic 0, Forest Green 2
If the Celts are going to beat the drop from the Blue Square Premier they will have to do it the hard way after slipping back into the relegation zone following a poor home performance.
There was an unreal atmosphere at Throstle Nest as a sterile contest unfolded with little goalmouth action and no cards brandished. It was almost like a meaningless end-of-season game or a friendly.
It was certainly not the best performance by Farsley and it was against a side on autopilot in mid-table safety. There was no passion shown by the visiting players or from their subdued dugout.
Forest Green took the lead following a 23rd-minute corner delivered to the near post, where Mark Preece was allowed a free header from the edge of the six-yard box.
Farsley's best opening of the game came early in the second half. A superb cross from Rory Prendergast found Lee Tuck and the diminutive striker got a good contact on a header, only to see Rovers keeper Terry Burton palm it around his post.
The visitors put the game to bed when Celts keeper Curtis Aspden failed to claim a cross and Paul Stonehouse was presented with a simple tap-in at the back post.
It could have been worse for Farsley as Rovers danger-man Stuart Fleetwood had two late chances, one of which was cleared off the line.
