Farsley ensure no double for Lancaster this season
Lancaster City 1 Farsley 1 Farsley went some way to atoning for last season’s start when they returned from their roses clash at Giant Axe with a point.
Neil Parsley’s men had lost last term’s opener at home to Lancaster City, who went on to do the double over Farsley. But there will be no repeat this time around after Farsley earned a draw, despite a bizarre own goal The visitors took the lead through Adam Priestley in the 14th minute but, 60 seconds later, a back pass from Dave Briggs hit a divot that took the ball over keeper Tom Morgan’s foot.
Parsley said: “I’m really pleased because of the last opening day at our place. It was a difficult away game and we have got something from it.
“Their goal was a bit of freak one really. Briggsy sent it back but the ball bobbled and Tom has hit a fresh air shot as he’s gone to clear it.
“I felt we were the better side in the first half. Simeon Bambrook had three half chances, but Lancaster had the better of the second half and missed two good late chances.
“On balance, as the away side, we did well. It is a long journey but not a bad one home after a positive start like that.”
