Neil Parsley pleased with Farsley recruits
Farsley manager Neil Parsley may yet sign more players after landing three recruits this week.
New boys Chris Walton, Adam Priestley and Rob Pacey, all captured from Evo-Stik League Division One North neighbours Garforth Town, were among those who have reported back for pre-season training.
“They have come back quite fit because players’ attitudes have changed since my day, when there was a three-month break and they came back a stone heavier,” said Parsley.
“These days the seasons are only eight or nine weeks apart and the lads retain their fitness well as they play a lot of five-a-side and visit gyms.
“With the new signings we now have strong competition for places at centre back, in centre midfield and up front.
“We have been talking to these players for a couple of weeks and I’m delighted we have signed all three. I have my eye on at least one more but that may or may not happen. We will see later in pre-season.”
Players from the reserve team and the Leeds City College team – which is run by Mark Jackson, one of Parsley’s two player/assistant managers – joined the first team at training.
They will be given their chance to impress the coaching staff and push their claim for consideration for the senior squad.
Parsley said: “We introduced a few last year – Tom Dugdale and Craig Tomkinson from the reserves and a few from Jacko’s college team.
“They will all be training together with the first team during pre-season as I see that as an incentive and also crucial to their development.”
