Bradford Park Avenue boss John Deacey hopes Tom Greaves brings back goals

PROLIFIC SPELL: Tom Greaves is back with Avenue after scoring goals on loan at Garforth PROLIFIC SPELL: Tom Greaves is back with Avenue after scoring goals on loan at Garforth

Bradford Park Avenue manager John Deacey is hoping returning striker Tom Greaves can help solve their goalscoring problem.

Greaves has enjoyed a prolific month on loan at Gar-forth Town but is back with Avenue ahead of Saturday's tough trip to Hednesford Town.

The Bradford club’s push for promotion in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division has faltered following a haul of just one point from their last three games.

And the Bank Holiday Monday 5-2 defeat at home to FC United of Manchester again highlighted their inability to put chances away.

Deacey admitted the defeat still hurt, saying: “I’ve not even got over the disappointment yet.

“I keep going over it and we could have been five goals up before the game turned in their favour.

“I spoke to FC United’s manager after the game and he said to me that if they had been 4-1 down at half-time they couldn’t have complained.

“It was the same old failings because we had four walk-ins in a good opening spell but just didn’t convert them.”

Deacey, who has no new injury problems, is hoping Greaves can be the cure for Avenue’s lack of a cutting edge.

He said: “Tom has been banging the goals in for Garforth Town, so we will have a look at him and see if he stays in form and makes a difference for us.”

Avenue are in sixth spot, just outside the play-off places, and trail Saturday’s third-placed hosts by nine points.

In Division One, Farsley also lost ground in the table over the holiday period after a 3-2 home defeat to neighbours Garforth Town.

It was a blow to Farsley’s promotion hopes as they could have gone top with a win and other results going their way.

They head to lower mid-table outfit Mossley on Saturday, looking to start another positive run.

Neil Parsley’s men are still only four points off the top but have played more games than all but one of the clubs in the top six.

Tom greaves and Adan Savory have a record of 20 goal seasons.so why have avenue been playing a forward line of players who have no such history of regular net finding and midgets to boot.
So many chances but even Tom and aidan miss the "walk ins"
Defence is a priority after conceding 5 twice 4 once and the forgetable 8.
sort the defence stop tinkering and get he big lads who have skillup front to be more instinctive.Time to be counted before things go wrong in the dressing room and in the table.
Sometimes the conditions demand more than tippy tappy football where fitness and stamina levels come into play. Not fit enough shape all wrong and players not knowing who or where they are playing next to each other from game to game does not breed confidence. The gap could be made up but these very talented players.
If they are used correctly and intensify their stamina levels. The jig saw puzzle is bent right now but it can come good
