6:47pm Sunday 1st January 2012 in Farsley By Ian Whiting
Farsley head into tomorrow's Evo-Stik Division One North derby with Garforth Town buoyed by a battling win on Boxing Day.
The three points Farsley earned at Wakefield kept them in third place but tomorrow's visitors – who lie eighth – are also in the hunt for the play-offs.
However, Town trail Neil Parsley’s men by seven points having played the same number of games.
Farsley are in a much stronger position than their neighbours but Parsley, having cut his managerial teeth under Bobby Davison at Guiseley before succeeding the former Leeds United and Derby County forward, knows all about derby days.
Parsley began his own professional career at Elland Road and went on to have more appearances with Huddersfield Town and West Bromwich Albion, playing in countless Yorkshire and West Midlands derbies during his playing career.
The Farsley boss has no new injury concerns and will have covered all bases in fine detail in preparation for the game.
A win and anything other than a victory for Skelmersdale, who are at home to mid-table Bamber Bridge, would see Farsley climb to second.
In fact, if other results go their way and they manage to beat their neighbours, Farsley could end the day joint top as they are only three points behind leaders Curzon Ashton.
