Farsley Celtic manager Neil Parsley made his first dart into the summer transfer market this week and scored a treble top with three quality players committing themselves to Throstle Nest next season.
Bradford-born striker Lee Ellington, who is the brother of former Premier League marksman Nathan, will boost the Celts’ frontline next season.
He has been captured from Blue Square North rivals Stalybridge Celtic.
Ellington scored at a rate of more than one every three games in his time with the Cheshire outfit, netting 75 times in his 188 appearances.
He has been a long-term target for the Celts and Bradford Park Avenue.
Midfielder Dave Sayers arrives from Harrogate Town, and the manager hopes he will contribute goals as well as being a driving force in the centre of the park.
Sayers also plays for Farsley Cricket Club in the Bradford League and Parsley, a very keen and competent cricketer himself, wonders if anyone else has represented the town’s football and cricket clubs?
The third signing is Liam Shepherd, the young winger released by York City at the end of the season just gone.
Parsley has snapped him up because he has a good background, is an exciting prospect and has youth on his side.
The only thing he has not enjoyed so far is regular first-team football and Parsley feels the Celts can offer him that.
