A THIRD consecutive victory saw Farsley Celtic haul themselves back into Evo-Stik League play-off places.

Once again they had Ryan Watson to thank for their three Premier Division points in a 1-0 win at Sutton Coldfield Town.

The Celts were locked in a dour struggle with the hosts until Watson's 84th-minute deflected strike.

The midfielder had netted the only goal as Farsley won by the same scoreline at home to Stafford Rangers the previous Saturday.

It was not the best performance from Adam Lakeland's men but they secured the all-important victory at the Central Ground.

The first half was largely forgettable and the second period began the same way, before the home side forced two chances either side of the hour mark.

Farsley stopper Graeme McKibbon made his first save of note as Louis McGrory sent in a well-struck free-kick.

Minutes later, the Royals mounted a good attack but it culminated in Niall Flint's shot hitting the outside of the side-netting.

Watson signalled his intentions to shoot on sight in the 66th minute but home keeper Jono Brown managed to palm that shot from distance away.

The Farsley man remained focused and although his late effort may yet go down as an own goal, it was his drive that landed his team the win.

The Celts are back up to fourth after a day that started with four clubs from third to sixth all locked on 54 points.

There was no joy for BRIGHOUSE TOWN in Division One North as they lost heavily at promotion-chasing Colwyn Bay.

Town headed to Wales and returned with their tails between their legs following a 4-0 defeat.

The Seagulls led 2-0 at the break after a good finish from Astley Mulholland and some poor defending that allowed Danny Andrews to walk in a second goal minutes before the break.

Mulholland turned provider early in the second half when he laid a third on a plate for Elliot Rokka – and Mulholland wrapped up the scoring with his second when he got onto the end of a long throw in just before the hour mark.

Town should have had the last word with a spot-kick, after Mohammed Tijani Ibrahim had been fouled in the area by Bay substitute Bill Sass-Davies seven minutes from time, but Matt Cooper saved from Dan Grimshaw.

Vill Powell's men stay 19th and just four points above the drop zone as their arduous campaign continues, while the Seagulls moved up one place to eighth.
