Eccleshill United are bidding to consolidate their position in the top two of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One with an away win at Swallownest.

Debutant Aran Basi scored the only goal last weekend at home to East Yorkshire Carnegie, and he was delighted to have made such an early impact, especially with the chasing pack faltering.

The midfielder said: “It’s massively important, considering other teams around us dropped points, for us to go and capitalise on that, and get three points, it’s big.”

Manager Sean Regan was relieved to secure the win, saying: “Fair play to the lads, they stuck with it instead of getting frustrated and again it showed a lot of character.”

Elsewhere in Division One, Campion will be looking to make a late charge towards the play-offs.

They currently sit in ninth, but have games in hand on many of their opponents.

One of those rivals for a play-off spot is Yorkshire Amateur, and the two meet in a crunch clash at Scotchman Road.

In the Premier Division, Liversedge are hoping for a good end to the season, starting with a home win at lowly Barton Town.

Thackley and Albion Sports have had disappointing seasons, but the former should fancy their chances at rock-bottom Clipstone, while the latter are at home to second-bottom Parkgate.

Farsley Celtic could move up to second place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, with an away win at bottom side Sutton Coldfield Town.

Brighouse Town could do with a win away to mid-table Colwyn Bay. They are seven points above the relegation zone but second-bottom Ossett Albion have three games in hand over them.

Finally, in North West Counties League Division One, Silsden have the chance to move one step closer to the title with an away win against 18th-placed Bacup Borough.
