FARSLEY Celtic were two goals clear as they headed into stoppage time at Throstle Nest but they had to settle for a point as Workington completed a remarkable comeback to draw 3-3.

It was a slap in face for Adam Lakeland’s men as they snatched a point from the jaws of victory after James Walshaw’s hat-trick had put them in a winning position in their Evo-Stik League Premier Division clash.

It was the visitors who scored first, however, following a poor clearance from Farsley keeper Graeme McKibbon in the eighth minute.

The ball fell to Sam Joel, who found Conor Tinnion, and he cut inside before slotting in.

Parity was restored two minutes later when a cross from Danny Ellis was headed on by his fellow centre back Adam Clayton to Walshaw, who then headed past visiting keeper Aaran Taylor.

Taylor’s opposite number was clearly struggling, and McKibbon was replaced by Kyle Trenerry with just a little over a quarter of an hour gone.

Farsley took a lead into the second half after Walshaw netted his second with a deflected shot after great work and a low centre by Paul Walker.

Walshaw should have claimed his treble from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the area, but the striker's spot-kick was well saved by Taylor.

It only delayed Walshaw’s celebrations for 20 minutes though.

He rounded Taylor in the 74th minute to slot in after intercepting a weak back pass, but the visitors’ comeback started just into the six minutes of time added on.

Scott Allison volleyed in before Matt Douglas’ last-gasp equaliser.

Farsley remain sixth but are now two points outside the play-off places as many of their promotion rivals won, while Workington stay eighth.

Brighouse Town remain third from bottom in Division One North after a 2-0 home defeat to mid-table Trafford.

The Mancunians scored in each half as they strolled to victory.

Centre forward Aaron Burns netted midway through the first half, and centre back Stephen Mason headed in the visitors’ second just six minutes after the break.

It was a sixth straight defeat for Town in all competitions and leaves confidence low ahead of tonight’s visit from Farsley in the West Riding County Cup.

The neighbours meet in a second-round derby.
