CLUB captain Danny Ellis has returned from his injury lay off and Farsley Celtic boss Adam Lakeland is glad to have him back.

With fellow centre backs Jimmy Pollard and Adam Clayton receiving red cards in recent games, the presence of the former Guiseley defender is a timely boost.

Pollard was sent off in Farsley’s 3-1 home win over Grantham Town while Clayton was dismissed in the 3-1 victory over Halesowen Town.

Perhaps ten men is the right permutation for Farsley as they went on to win both of those games while they were thrashed 6-0 at Altrincham on Tuesday with 11 men on the pitch.

Lakeland said: “Danny has been out for a while with a calf injury but he’s back in the squad now which is just as well as the red cards have cost us.

“Last Saturday was Danny’s first game back and the plan was to just give him an hour, at most, because he was just coming back. "We left Jimmy on the bench as we knew we’d be without him at Altrincham because of his suspension.

“It didn’t work out like that because Clayts was sent off early in the second half so we had to take a forward off and put Jimmy on alongside Danny.

"At least Danny lasted the full 90 minutes, but with another game three days later we need men available.”

Another player who will be available soon is midfielder Nathan Turner.

He is back playing, albeit on loan at Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division Garforth Town.

Lakeland added: “Nathan has been looking fit for a while and the final stage of his recovery is best spent playing games so he’s gone to Garforth for a little spell.

"He’s been doing a lot of fitness and strengthening work with our physio Gareth Liversedge and that will continue while he’s on loan.

“Getting Danny and Nathan back is like two new signings at a crucial time in the season after so many games.

"I’ve been pleased with the professional approach and the performances of the players, but the club has only just come back up and every game is a big test so we have to keep attaining the standards week in week out.”
