FARSLEY Celtic bounced back from last Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at leaders Warrington Town in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division with a good win in midweek and they will be looking to extend their unbeaten home start when they host Halesowen Town tomorrow.
The Celts lost 4-2 at Warrington but boss Adam Lakeland got the response he needed on Tuesday when Farsley leapfrogged Grantham Town with a 3-0 victory that dropped the Lincolnshire outfit from third to sixth and lifted the Celts into fourth place.
After nine league games Farsley are only three points off the summit while their visitors are rock bottom. Halesowen have taken four points from a possible 24 and have yet to pick up a point on their travels.
Lakeland was happy with the midweek win but he had a warning for his players, saying, “It was an excellent victory for us against Grantham and exactly the kind of response we wanted following the narrow defeat at Warrrington.
“The score-line suggests it was a comfortable win but we had to work very hard for the three points. We’ve come through a little run of three very tough fixtures so to come away with six points is a good return.
“And we go again at home against Halesowen in what will be another difficult game, despite their lowly position.”
Brighouse Town face a tough fixture in Division One as they head to sixth place Prescot Cables following Monday’s 3-2 home defeat against Droylsden, a result which took the Bloods to the top of the table.
Ten places separate Town from their hosts who are only five points off top spot after two victories from their last three games.
