BRADFORD Park Avenue finished with ten men at leaders AFC Fylde – but earned the single point from a 1-1 draw that guarantees their safety in the Vanarama National North.

Following the news that their future in the division is safe, the club announced that the management team of Mark Bower and Danny Boshell had signed contracts keeping them at Avenue until 2019.

For assistant player-manager Boshell it was a double celebration as he had scored the goal that had given his side a deserved lead at Mill Farm.

Bradford took a slender advantage into the break after Boshell reacted quickly when the home keeper could only parry a Chris Sharp shot.

The game ended in almost farcical circumstances, however, as a rash of yellow cards began nine minutes from time.

The visitors’ Jake Hibbs picked up two in just over a minute and was subsequently dismissed as pandemonium descended with pushing and shoving in the centre circle.

Bower didn’t escape the card-happy referee as he was asked to leave the dugout in the first of nine minutes of time added on.

In the seventh extra minute, the Coasters’ Matt Blinkhorn steered a header past Avenue keeper Jon Worsnop.

As Bower’s men secured their status, Farsley Celtic’s Evo-Stik Division One North title bid was placed in peril.

The Celts went into their penultimate game two points clear at the summit but a 2-0 home defeat to third-placed Ossett Town dropped them to second.

Ossett’s Martin Pemberton netted a second-half brace and that could be a fatal blow to Farsley’s hopes of a double after landing the West Riding County Cup.

After rivals Lancaster City’s 3-0 win over Kendal Town the Celts are now in the runners-up spot, one point adrift with one game to play, at Kendal.

Brighouse Town are just two points outside the play-off places going into their last game after a 2-1 home win over Goole AFC.

Mike Fish netted a quickfire first half brace and Bobby Johnson’s late reply was little more than a consolation.

Silsden made it six points from a very happy Easter with a second victory inside three days in the Hallmark Security League Division One.

The Cobbydalers followed up a 2-1 away on Saturday with a 2-0 home win over Atherton LR, to stay in tenth spot. Tom Henderson and Mark Everingham were the home side’s first-half scorers.
