FARSLEY Celtic's promotion is still firmly on track as they go into the last three months of the campaign but joint manager Neil Parsley is hoping that injuries don’t derail his side’s progress.

The Celts had runs in the national cup competitions, are still in the League Cup and have a West Riding County Cup semi-final against Bradford Park Avenue to squeeze into their schedule.

Those cup runs have been welcome and have maintained the momentum that Farsley have built, but the downside is that they have already played 39 games – and prepared for three other matches that ultimately fell foul of the weather.

Parsley said: “We’ve had a few problems with injuries recently but considering the amount of games we’ve played I think the players have held up really well under difficult circumstances.

“We’ve had to be very careful with Nathan Turner, and he’s been a big loss when he’s missed games, but Nathan has an ongoing problem - one of those niggling injuries that we have to manage between staff and player.

“He can play but we can’t overuse him so it’s one of those that needs careful handling until the end of the season and then we can hopefully get him sorted out in the summer.”

There was some consternation last weekend when Paul Walker was substituted just two minutes into the second half in the home derby against Brighouse Town.

The home supporters couldn’t understand the change and the visitors’ bench were also looking quizzical.

Parsley explained the situation, saying: “Paul should be fine for tomorrow because it was just an impact injury.

“He had hurt his neck in the first half and he had a rub from the physio at half-time but there was a lot going on and it wasn’t until the players were ready to go back out that we got the chance to speak to him.

“He said that he felt okay and wanted to give it a go, but it soon became apparent that he was still struggling with it so we had to make the substitution.

"It wasn’t ideal timing but unfortunately sometimes these things happen.”
