FARSLEY Celtic are hoping to make the most of home advantage over the remainder of the holiday period, starting tonight with a win over strugglers Goole AFC.

The Celts were beaten 3-2 at new leaders Ossett Town on Boxing Day but, with a full fixture list in Evo-Stik Division One North tonight, they can minimise the damage.

After that they host mid-table Tadcaster Albion on Monday, and go into the games looking to make up the four-point gap between them and the play-off places.

Midfielder Ross Daly said: “We were disappointed to lose at Ossett Town but they’re a good side with a new manager, and I know a lot of their players and they’ve got a great team spirit.

“But I believe that we’ve got an even better team spirit and a stronger squad, so we’re looking at promotion this season.

"We play Goole next and we won’t take them lightly because anyone can beat anyone in this division.

“It’s a tough league and that’s making it interesting, but we expect to win all of our home games. Anything other than six points will be a letdown.”

Farsley still have the best defence in the league, despite conceding three last time out, but are now four points outside the play-off places, although they have five games in hand on some of the clubs above them.

Their opponents are second from bottom after they were beaten 3-0 by Brighouse Town last time out and are conceding more than twice as many as they’re scoring.

Brighouse trail Farsley by goal difference only and they also have home advantage tonight but their task is much more demanding as they host Ossett Town.

Paul Quinn’s men are right on the heels of the Celts and are capable of denting near-neighbours Ossett’s promotion push, with the derby factor adding another edge to tonight’s meeting.

Due to the heavy overnight frost, there is a pitch inspection at Farsley Celtic at 4pm.
