FARSLEY wrestled top spot in the Evo-Stik League back from neighbours Brighouse Town last night as they climbed to the Division One North summit on goal difference.

The Celts claimed a point from an uninspiring display in a game played in poor conditions on a wet and freezing evening.

Paul Quinn's Brighouse side had moved above Farsley on Monday night when they also banked a point from a goalless draw.

Farsley may only be back at the top on goal difference but they have a game in hand on their neighbouring rivals.

Meanwhile, new SILSDEN boss Danny Forrest earned his first win at the second time of asking as the Cobbydalers breezed through to the third round of the West Riding County Cup with a 6-1 home success.

Silsden were hosting a side from a step higher on the non-League ladder as Armthorpe Welfare visited and the Doncaster club took an early lead. Luke Williams opened the scoring in the 12th minute – but the Cobbydalers led 3-1 at half-time.

Nicky McNally scored twice and he completed his hat-trick four minutes into the second half. Ross Wilson had netted the Keighley Road side's other goal before the interval, while Danny Riley and Leon Smith added after McNally had grabbed his treble.

The Cobbydalers will take on the Shaymen in the next round as Forrest's side face a tie at FC Halifax Town, one of the former Bradford City striker's former clubs.
