The two local Evo-Stik Division One North sides both had hastily arranged friendly fixtures last night, and they resulted in big wins for Farsley Celtic and neighbours Brighouse Town.

The Celts hosted new kids on the block Campion, and the newcomers were swept away in the first half.

Farsley rattled in five goals without reply before the break but James Bicknell’s Campion battled back after the interval in a 6-3 defeat.

Paul Walker broke the deadlock in the fifth minute, and Richard Marshall doubled Farsley’s lead a minute later.

Marshall added the Celts’ third midway through the half before James Walshaw, with a well-placed free-kick, and Peter Davidson made it a nap hand just before the break.

Campion pegged a goal back ten minutes after the interval through Jordan Missin but Walshaw restored Farsley’s five-goal advantage.

The visitors still refused to lie down, and Scott Eastwood scored from the penalty spot before Missin added his second six minutes from time.

Brighouse also won a high-scoring encounter handsomely and, like the game at Throstle Nest, the fixture against Yorkshire Amateur was no longer a contest after the first half.

Paul Quinn’s men led 5-1 at the interval after they too had netted two quick goals to seize the initiative.

Steve Mallory opened the scoring in the tenth minute, and Fernando Moke netted less than three minutes later.

Jamie Frost made it three before the Ammers pulled one back through Harrison Blakey, but the visitors’ hopes of a comeback were brief as Frost and Moke both claimed their second goals late in the first half.

Tom Robinson and Jacob Buchanan were both on target for Brighouse in the second half before Dan Sherref scored the visitors’ second but Tom Haigh capped a good night for Town when he made it 8-2 in the last minute.
