THACKLEY played their final pre-season friendly last night when they travelled to Harrogate Town to take on the Vanarama National North club’s under-21 side.

A single goal by the home side in the first half at the CNG Stadium was enough to win the game.

Kyle Willis netted midway through the first period in what was a good game for Town’s second string and an excellent work-out for the Dennyboys.

There is more friendly action tonight as Farsley Celtic and Brighouse Town, whose season is still almost a fortnight away, both have recently arranged games.

The Celts have added a home game against non-league newcomers and neighbours Campion.

Paul Quinn’s Brighouse were due to host Albion Sports but, after a hectic close season for the Lions, they pulled out last week.

Town, whose last run-out was a 3-0 home win over Campion, have filled the void with a visit from Leeds-based Yorkshire Amateur.

The Celts and Brighouse must wait until a week on Saturday for their first league games in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Farsley host Colwyn Bay in their opener, while Brighouse are also at home against Radcliffe Borough.
