FARSLEY Celtic’s end-of-season nightmare continued with a 3-0 defeat at Trafford as a late brace from the home side’s Aaron Burns massaged the figures in what was a close game.

Both sides had chances in a goalless first half, and the deadlock was not broken until the 68th minute.

The Celts conceded a poor free-kick and paid the full price as Lian Davies’ well-struck effort beat Farsley keeper Tom Taylor, even though he got a hand to it.

Trafford increased their lead following a free-kick for the visitors.

Farsley’s Liam Sugden delivered a set-piece which the home keeper claimed, and launched a counter-attack that culminated in substitute Burns slotting in.

Neil Parsley’s men still created chances as they threatened to get back into the game but they suffered a killer blow in the last minute as Burns netted a back-post header.

Brighouse Town also suffered an away defeat as they went down 2-0 against leaders Warrington Town in another close game.

The home side got a penalty just before half-time, Brighouse keeper Paul Hargreen fouling Joe Holt in the area and being sent the wrong way from the spot by Yellows’ skipper Ciaran Killheeney.

Warrington wrapped up their win when Steven Gillespie back-heeled the ball past Hargreen at the second attempt, following a scramble in the area when a 79th-minute corner wasn’t cleared.
