FARSLEY Celtic were left reeling after a second consecutive defeat all but derailed their push for the play-offs in Evo-Stik Division One North.

After a 3-1 loss at struggling Radcliffe Borough in midweek, the Celts went down 2-1 at home to mid-table rivals Mossley, and finished with ten men after Paddy Miller was dismissed late on for denying a goal-scoring opportunity.

Tom Pratt gave the visitors the lead when he fired in after a 17th-minute shot from Sam Robinson was blocked.

The Celts were level at the interval after Leon Osborne netted midway through the first half, playing a neat one-two with Lewis Nightingale before slotting in.

The visitors came out on top in a scrappy second half but the winner came from the penalty spot as both sides struggled to create clear openings.

Mossley substitute Michael Fish broke into the area and went down under a challenge from home keeper Tom Taylor, man of the match Kyle McGonigle netting from the spot.

There was better news for Brighouse Town, who enjoyed a 2-1 win in their derby at Ossett Albion.

Town’s Danny Facey ended the deadlock in the tenth minute, after breaking from his own half and using his strength to muscle past defenders before drilling in a shot.

The home side levelled soon after the half-hour when a headed clearance from Town keeper Paul Hargreen, from just outside his area, fell to Adam Muller, who chipped into the empty net from distance.

Leon Henry came off the bench early in the second half and netted the 67th-minute winner after good work from Tom Haigh.
