FARSLEY Celtic strolled to a 4-1 victory at basement outfit New Mills but it was a frustrating day for the Celts as most of the Evo-Stik Division One North promotion-chasing pack all won.

Neil Parsley’s men remain eighth in the table, still two points outside the play-off places, after a straightforward victory.

Lewis Nightingale started and finished the scoring for the Celts.

The deadlock was broken when Nightingale picked out the bottom corner with a well-struck 12th-minute free-kick. The visitors added a second from the penalty spot midway through the first half, skipper Aaron Hardy slotting home after Paul Walker had been fouled.

Just six minutes after the break, Adam Clayton thought he had got the final touch on a set-piece to increase Farsley’s lead but it was credited as an own goal after it deflected off Jonathon Rand past Millers’ keeper Oliver Martin.

The home side pegged a goal back seven minutes from time when striker Adam Blackburn profited from a poor clearance but the Celts underlined their superiority when Nightingale netted in stoppage time.

Ten-man Brighouse Town lost a seven-goal thriller at Droylsden as the Bloods avenged their 8-0 mauling at the Dual Seal Stadium last month.

The day began well for Paul Quinn’s men as Danny Facey broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, following a quick counter-attack.

But midway through the first half, James Pollard picked up two yellow cards inside three minutes and was dismissed.

Droylsden levelled through Daniel Parkinson just after the half-hour and were 3-1 up by the break after Billy Hasler-Cregg netted, plus an own goal by Tim Wallace.

Martin Allison came on as a half-time substitute for Brighouse, and he reduced the arrears in the 53rd minute, but Hasler-Cregg added his second before Facey pounced when a corner two minutes into time added on wasn’t cleared to make it 4-3.

Town could improve on their 13th place when they host mid-table rivals Kendal Town tonight.
