FARSLEY Celtic stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to 14 games but being held to a goalless draw by Lancaster City at Throstle Nest did neither club any favours.

Both Neil Parsley’s Celts and the visiting Dolly Blues lost ground in the Evo-Stik Division One North table.

Farsley tumbled two places to tenth, although they are only three points off the play-off places, while Lancaster lost one place as they dropped to seventh.

It was always going to be a close contest, with Farsley on their remarkable run and the visitors also on top form, having lost just one of their previous ten games.

Lancaster set a cracking early pace on, and Celts keeper Tom Taylor had to be at his agile best.

Even then the Farsley shot-stopper needed the frame of his goal as the visitors’ Tom Kilifin and Ryan Winder hit the woodwork but Aiden Savory had a good chance for the home side but was denied by the Dolly Blues’ keeper.

The second half was more even but also a lot less entertaining.

Brighouse Town also dropped down the table as they slipped to a surprise defeat at lowly Prescot Cables.

Paul Quinn’s Town were looking for their third straight victory but were always chasing the game after conceding a 16th-minute penalty.

The home side’s Philip Bannister slotted past Town’s keeper Paul Hargreen, and Joseph Evans doubled their advantage in the second half. Brighouse ensured a tight finish after James Pollard netted a 25-yard free-kick with a little over six minutes remaining but there was no comeback.
