FARSLEY Celtic stretched their winning run in all competitions to ten games in last night’s Evo-Stik Division One derby against Harrogate Railway but they were made to work for their 3-1 victory.

Their tenth consecutive victory was cemented by a late double from centre back Adam Clayton, and it was no less than they deserved for their efforts on the night.

The home side had the game’s first chance but Chris Howarth’s teasing cross was headed out from under the bar.

The visitors broke the deadlock soon after when Steve Bromley raced through in the sixth minute and chipped Celts’ keeper Tom Taylor.

Farsley’s Ross Daly shot wide, Howarth fired over and Lewis Nightingale troubled the Rail defence in a first half that the home side dominated, but they could have gone into the break even further behind after two late chances for the visitors.

Neil Parsley’s men redoubled their efforts after the break and levelled through Aiden Savory’s great strike before Clayton’s late brace completed the turnaround.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division, Thackley made the short trip to Garforth Town and banked a maximum from a seven-goal thriller that finished late after a power-cut in north Leeds.

Curtley Martin-Wyatt hit a first half brace for the Miners but the Dennyboys’ Andy Wood was also on target twice as the lead changed hands throughout the first period.

Garforth took the lead again through Jordan Oughtibright but a late Tom Dugdale brace – either side of the floodlight failure caused by the power outage – saw Thackley returning with all the points.

Thackley’s local rivals Liversedge should also have been in action but their opponents Retford United had a rearranged Nottinghamshire Senior Cup quarter-final tie to attend to.
