FARSLEY Celtic blew their promotion-chasing hosts Spennymoor Town apart in the second half as they ran out 4-0 winners in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Neil Parsley’s men leapt up to 13th in the table with the fine away victory, and had four players on target as the goals continued to flow from all areas.

A stunned Spennymoor remain in seventh spot, still four points outside the play-off places – but have games in hand on many of the clubs above them.

Following a goalless first half, the Celts got in front from the penalty spot with Aaron Hardy drilling in from 12 yards.

Two goals in as many minutes just after the hour mark made the game safe.

Lewis Sugden fired into the bottom corner, although the league’s website credited Ross Daly.

Moments later, Lewis Nightingale went on a slalom run, taking him past a number of home defenders, before slotting in Farsley’s third. Paul Walker wrapped up the scoring in the 78th minute.

BRIGHOUSE TOWN got back to winning ways and moved closer to the play-off places with a 2-1 home win over Scarborough Athletic – with the struggling visitors ending with ten men in controversial circumstances.

The Seadogs thought they had levelled when Town keeper Paul Hargreen dropped the ball over the line as he gathered a free kick. However, the referee spotted a nudge on the stopper from a Boro attacker and disallowed the goal.

In the aftermath, the Seadogs’ Matthew Bloor was dismissed, picking up a straight red card, presumably for something he said to the official.

Following a scoreless first half, the deadlock was broken by an own goal just minutes after the interval.

The Boro player credited with the last touch was Peter Davidson, but soon after they were reduced in numbers, the ten men levelled through Jamie Forrester.

Town had to keep the pressure on and work hard for their victory, but their efforts were rewarded when Adam Wilson netted following an 85th minute corner.
