STORM Desmond was blowing a gale across the north of England but it took the wind out of FARSLEY CELTIC'S sails.

Neil Parsley's men were knocking over everyone in their path as they climbed the Evo-Stik League Division One North table and progressed in the League Cup.

However, their five-game winning streak was interrupted by a postponement after they were due to make the short trip over the Pennines to take on struggling Radcliffe Borough.

Farsley last suffered the frustration of a call-off at the beginning of last month, when their match at Kendal Town was called off – immediately before their winning sequence.

SILSDEN'S home game against West Didsbury & Chorlton in the North West Counties League Premier Division was also washed out.

Cobbydalers spokesman Jim Rosser said: "There were a lot of games off and I'm not surprised ours was one of them because the Aire Valley is like a lake.

"I think it's worse than it was last week, when a lot of games were off in our area.

"We're at Thackley on Tuesday in the West Riding County Cup but their weekend game was called off, so we'll have to hope for an improvement in the weather."

THACKLEY were due to host Worksop Town but the Dennyboys called the game off after their pitch failed a morning inspection.

The scheduled hosts are another club with momentum behind them – but Worksop had been looking to reclaim the leadership of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
