Evo-Stk Integro Doodson League Cup: Farsley Celtic 6 Stocksbridge Park Steels 0

FARSLEY Celtic hit visitors Stocksbridge Park Steels with six of the best at Throstle Nest last night.

Leon Osborne was the tormentor in chief as he plundered a first half hat-trick to set the Celts on their way to a comfortable victory in the second-round tie.

It was a clash of two sides from the two lower tiers of the Evo-Stik League, with Division One North Farsley having home advantage over Division One South Stocksbridge.

The Steels are the former club of man of the moment Jamie Vardy, and they could certainly have done with their old boy’s firepower, with Farsley raced to a 4-0 half-time lead, largely due to the efforts of Osborne.

He broke the deadlock when he converted a good ball in by Paul Walker and Walker, who made his move to the Nest from Bradford Park Avenue permanent last weekend, doubled Farsley’s lead with a well-struck free-kick from distance.

Osborne made it three in the 39th minute, and added his own third just over a minute before the interval.

Two goals in as many minutes deep into the second half underlined Farsley’s superiority.

Aiden Savory scored the fifth, and Ross Daly, who had replaced skipper Rob O’Brien in the first half, wrapped it up soon after with a well-taken goal to convert a Josh Grant cross.
