MANAGER Neil Parsley decision to ring the changes at Farsley Celtic is paying off.

He decided to act after a poor start left his team struggling at the wrong end of the EvoStik Division One North table.

First team regulars and crowd favourites were axed as Parsley brought in new men to turn around the club's fortunes.

Adam Clayton, Paul Walker, Chris Haworth and Paddy Miller have all arrived at Throstle Nest along with new assistant manager Lee Connor.

Parsley said, “We have been playing very well and I’m very happy with the way the new players have come in and settled quickly.

“The performances have been better than the results suggest, but if there is one criticism of the players it’s that we haven’t put teams to bed. Oddly enough we won our last two games but we didn’t play as well as we had done earlier in the season.”

Farsley beat high flying Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the League Cup, just weeks after the Ducks had knocked them out of the FA Trophy.

They followed up by hauling themselves out of the relegation places with a 3-1 victory over promotion hopefuls Scarborough Athletic.

“The players have never lacked confidence, not for one fleeting moment," said Parsley. "I feel that it’s mental resilience we need. We’ve gone to places and got results but then lost other games and come away wondering how we haven’t got a draw at the very least.

“There is no lack of confidence, we know we can compete against sides at the top but its time to prove it. The players need to deliver and I know there is room for our brand of football, the attacking style we like to play, and winning football matches.

“It doesn’t have to be one or the other, we can prosper and we can do it with this squad. It isn’t beyond them.

“There’s no denying it was a very bad start for us. We’ve definitely missed Adam Priestley’s goals. He left for Shaw Lane and to try to get a player of his quality in on short notice in the summer proved to be impossible."

Parsley also revealed what was his toughest decision. He added: "The hardest was Rilo (James Riley) and it was a big call. However, when a player like Adam (Clayton) comes available you have to move quickly and unfortunately the squad couldn’t carry both.

“Rilo has done well here and he’s a great lad with a lovely family, we all wish him well for the rest of career."
