THERE was a monumental shift in the mood at Throstle Nest after Tuesday's 7-0 hammering of Witton Albion as Farsley Celtic hauled themselves out of the Evo-Stik League relegation places.

The result did not come out of the blue as Neil Parsley's men had taken a point off Spennymoor Town, one of the Division One North promotion favourites, last weekend.

That result followed a 2-1 win over Ossett Town to progress in the West Riding County Cup and a 4-0 victory against league rivals Prescot Cables in the FA Trophy.

If Farsley's season has turned a corner, it is down to Parsley and right-hand man Mark Jackson as they have turned every stone in their search for a remedy for the club's ills.

Two players – Paul Walker and Adam Clayton – have been brought in on loan from Bradford Park Avenue, Paddy Miller has returned to the Nest after a spell with Tadcaster Albion and Liam Bennett has been signed.

Four have departed: Nick Guest, Sam Robinson, Jon Lewis and Harley Wigley.

Parsley is delighted with the incoming players but unimpressed with at least one of the men he released.

He said: "When a player of Adam's quality becomes available, you have to act quickly, and I am sure he will prove to be a valuable asset, while Liam joins us from Leeds United's academy.

"Harley was unhappy with being dropped to the bench for the recent game at Lancaster City. While I don't expect any player to be happy at not being in the starting 11, Harley's attitude did come as a surprise.

'Myself and Jacko realised that we needed to change things up a bit as we had been conceding a couple of goals per game and that was the decision we made.

"Harley felt that he had been the best defender this season and I thought that his comments were disrespectful to the rest of the squad and ourselves as a management team. After a discussion, it was felt best that he moved on."
